Oprah Winfrey says Shamcey Supsup ‘deserved to win’

According to sources in the internet, Oprah Winfrey said this in an NBC news interview:

“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

This also explains why I have been so busy that I have forgotten to update this blog. Please join the puzzle contest and have fun. :)

Bubble Tea Food Review

One of my wife’s favorite milk tea places. We’ve been going to this place every time we drop by SM Megamall since the store opened 3 – 4 years ago, way before the recent Milk Tea hype. Anyway, we decided to have lunch in this place since the food isn’t too bad either.

Taro Milk Shake Php 135.00 and Jasmine Milk Tea Php 115.00
Their milk shake is one the best that I have tasted, and is way cheaper than the ones sold by NSG, Mr. Jones or TGIF. Their Jasmine milk tea has the right balance of sweetness and bitterness that I highly recommend to those people not used to drinking tea and want to get used to the milk tea hype. Sill, one of our highly recommended Milk Tea places, way better than Gong Cha, Cha Time, or yucky Serendipitea. In terms of taste, I would rate the following Milk tea places in the following order: Bubble Tea > Gong Cha > Cha Time > Serendipitea (Serendipitea’s strawberry milk tea tastes like strawberry flavored cough syrup!!!!) > Honey Lemon.

Fish Katsudon Php 195.00
A very unusual katsudon and obviously my wife’s order (more adventurous with food). Tastes ok, has cheese inside along with the fish fillet. The dish tastes pretty good except for the unusual seaweed wrap inside, kinda distorts the taste, but you can always remove it.

Katsudon Php 175.00
Classic Pork Katsudon, deep-fried pork cutlet and egg. Nothing special, tastes ok, the big serving size of the pork is also a good thing.

One of the best Milk Tea places out there, although slightly more expensive, the quality makes up for it. Also one of those Japanese-American Fusion restaurants in the Philippines, the food is good and the service is great. Definitely one of our staple dining places in Megamall.

Why I Don’t Like the Man of Steel

Look , up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!

No, it’s an incredibly boring comic book superhero with no style. Heck, even his hairdo is indestructible, how boring is that?

This page from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Strikes Again, shows a insightful peek into how an old and arrogant Superman might become. Who over the course of his superhero career, overestimates himself, and consequently gets his ass kicked by several members of the JLA including Batman. It also sums up the general sentiment of most people who hate Superman. Continue reading

Dulcinea Food Review

Decided to try this place after hearing mass. Can’t really think of anything noteworthy to say on why we chose this restaurant or any notable past experience either, it’s just one of those times when we chose a restaurant on a whim.

UAAP and the “La Salle system”

I think it’s time for a change. The full court press is broken, not just by Norman Black but by all the Coaches of all  UAAP teams (excluding UP, I don’t think they are serious with their basketball team).

French Baker Food Review

This often unnoticed little restaurant nestled in the bridge between Landmark and Glorietta is a rare find. We usually ignore this restaurant because we only remember it when we pass through the Landmark-Glorietta bridge. Fortunately, a super-hyped milk tea shop — Chatime, opened beside this restaurant and it somehow reminded us of its existence.

Word of The Lourd

The Lourd in the title of the post is not a typo, nor am I preaching a religious doctrine. Lourd Ernest Hanopol de Veyra is the name of a journalist, broadcast personality and activist who first became famous for being the vocalist of Manila-based jazz rock band Radioactive Sago Project (Gusto ko ng baboy song…). Currently under the employ of TV5, he is the host for the “Word of the Lourd”, which is a Daily newscast of TV5 which pokes fun at the day’s current events and issues.

Recipes by Café Metro Food Review

We were going around in circles looking for a restaurant in Greenbelt 3 because there are just so many to choose from. In the end, we settled on Recipes, which is not our usual choice, this is because we’re not really a big fan of restaurants that serves Filipino food (we usually eat Filipino food at home :-s) . Regardless, the place looked clean and homey which was a good break from the other fancy-looking restaurants nearby.

The Power of Six is now Available in the Philippines

The second installment of “The Loren Legacies” series, will the Loric children survive and outsmart the ruthless Mogadorians? Their story continues in this sequel to the smash hit “I am Number Four”. I am very interested in the “Sarah, John (Number Four) and Number Six” love triangle, who will John choose?

I just found out that the book is available in the Bonifacio High Street branch of Fully Booked at only Php 395.00  for the paperback edition and Php 648.00 for the hardcover edition. As much as I want to go out and buy it RIGHT NOW!… I have refrained from doing so, because I have promised myself that I will not buy a new book until I have finished reading the one I am currently reading, which is “Smoke and Mirrors” by Neil Gaiman. Only a few pages have been left unread, so I believe I can buy this book tomorrow.

*updates: Also available in Powerbooks Glorietta 4 same price.

PBJ and Co (Peanut Butter Company) Food Review

The restaurant was featured in MYX a few months ago and it piqued my curiosity. I liked peanut butter and a restaurant that served all of its food with “peanut butter” as the secret ingredient sounds interesting (Iron Chef?). So we decided to try the restaurant when we chanced upon it while looking for a place to have merienda in the Mall of Asia.

A very hard modification of the original Mario Game

I saw this video being shared by a friend in Facebook a few hours ago and I can’t stop laughing. The guy who added the new obstacles must be some kind of sadist. But it’s still pretty funny. Hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.
